Okanogan–Omak residents and travelers will encounter traffic slowdowns on U. S. Highway 97 and State Route 20 starting Sept. 8 due to bridge inspections and utility work.
WSDOT announced on Sept. 3 that US 97 at milepost 291 near Omak will have one-lane, two-way traffic with flaggers from 1-3 p.m. on Sept. 8. A second US 97 bridge inspection at milepost 310 south of Tonasket will require alternating one-lane traffic from 8-11 a.m. on Sept. 9. On SR 20 near Twisp, water line work at milepost 202 will cause alternating one-lane traffic from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Sept. 8-10.
The closures are scheduled to end by Sept. 10, with no extended disruptions expected. Drivers are advised to allow extra time for travel during these periods.
