Superior NF Wildfire Updates Suspended

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

As of August 10, 2026, Superior National Forest will suspend daily wildfire incident updates, publishing only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

The change follows a July 6, 2026, storm with thunder and lightning but little precipitation that prompted multiple small wildfires. The Southern Area Complex Incident Management Team 1 oversees firefighting efforts.

Residents should note that fire restrictions and BWCAW closures are updated on the Forest's Alerts webpage. The Little Knife Fire remains under management by the Superior National Forest.
