State Route 9 will operate with a single lane near Kalloch Road (MP 59) starting Aug. 23, alternating northbound and southbound traffic through a bypass road. The restriction will last 42 days until Sept. 14, per WSDOT construction updates.
The lane reduction supports fish passage construction at unnamed tributaries of Nookachamps and Hansen Creeks. Drivers should expect delays in the area during the work period. WSDOT’s project webpage provides additional details on the construction schedule and impacts.
The next major change on SR 9 will be alternating traffic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays starting Sept. 3 near Mount Vernon Big Lake Road, according to the same project updates.
