The Silver Fire, detected August 23 after a thunderstorm, has merged with two other lightning-caused fires, Silver Dollar 2 and Middle Silver Fires, according to InciWeb.
The fire is burning in the subalpine zone near Roman Nose on the southeast side of Silver Dollar Peak, with suppression efforts hindered by wind, topography, and thick vegetation. A temporary flight restriction (TFR) is in effect to protect airspace for firefighting operations.
