The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has implemented closures across all BLM-administered land along both sides of the John Day River, from Service Creek north to the Columbia River, due to rapid fire growth of the Rowe Creek Complex wildfire.
The Rowe Creek Complex, a cluster of lightning-caused wildfires ignited July 15-16, 2026, is managed by the Northwest Complex Incident Management Team 2 (NW2) and Oregon State Fire Marshal Green Incident Management Team. The fire complex includes the Crosswhite, Camel Hump, Red Rock, and Twickenham fires.
