The Ptarmigan Fire management transitioned to a Type 4 organization at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, August 25, 2026.
Fire behavior remains moderate with minimal movement confined to the Middle and West Forks of the Pasayten River. Road repair continues on Harts Pass Road (FSR 5400). There are no current evacuations in place, per Okanogan County Emergency Management.
The fire, discovered July 17, has burned in the old Tatoosh fire area near the Canadian border, with northern sections crossing into Canada east of Monument 83 historic lookout.
