The Ptarmigan Fire, discovered on July 17, 2026, continues to burn in the Pasayten Wilderness near the Canadian border. As of August 10, 2026, the fire is moving slowly southward with west winds affecting its behavior, pushing east up side drainages.
No evacuations are currently in place for the Ptarmigan Fire. Residents are directed to check the Okanogan County Emergency Management page for updates on evacuation status. The fire is located 20 miles NW of Mazama, Washington, and is burning in the old Tatoosh fire area.
