Porcupine Fire Spreads to 3. 5 Acres

🔊 Listen · narrated by Aiden

The Porcupine Fire, discovered July 24, grew to 3. 5 acres by August 16 after a wind event caused rollouts on a cliff face, according to InciWeb.

Firefighting efforts are focused on confining the fire to limit threats to a communication site, recreation infrastructure, and nearby communities. Handlines constructed around most of the fire area held it until recent spread, with no feasible safety zones or medevac sites complicating direct suppression.
