The Moose Mountain Fire, started by lightning on August 1, 2026, has grown to burn approximately 4 miles north of Kelly Forks Campground and Guard Station in Idaho. It is currently active on Nez Perce - Clearwater National Forest lands.
The Luna Fire in North Cascades National Park, which began on July 23, 2026, remains active within the park's complex. The fire started southwest of Luna Camp along Big Beaver Trail in steep, remote terrain.
Fire management officials report no containment for any of the active wildfires in the Okanogan–Omak area as of August 25, 2026. The fires are burning in remote areas but may impact regional air quality and firefighting resources.
