Okanogan–Omak area drivers will face lane closures and delays on several state highways this week due to ongoing construction projects, according to Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) updates. The closures include one general-purpose lane of eastbound SR 522 from August 18 to 21, and overnight closures of I-5 northbound lanes from August 20 to 21.
The most significant project affecting the Okanogan–Omak area is the SR 702/Harts Lake Road roundabout project, which will cause up to 15-minute delays on August 22. WSDOT reports that a pilot car will alternate traffic through a single lane at the intersection near McKenna during regular work hours. Other projects include overnight lane closures on I-405 from August 19 to 21 and scheduled pavement repair work on SR 520 from August 20 to 21.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead for delays, especially during the August 22 roundabout project work. WSDOT recommends using caution during lane closures and expects delays through all work zones. The next scheduled work period will begin on August 24 with two lanes of southbound I-405 closing between SR 520 and NE 14th Street.
