Spring prescribed fire operations on San Juan National Forest are complete, according to the latest update. Fall projects will continue as conditions allow, including Sauls Creek (900 acres), Southern HDs (2,000 acres), and Brockover-Devil (2,100 acres).
Smoke from the projects may affect residents near Arboles, Bayfield, Pagosa Springs, and Highway 160 corridors. The Forest Service states these efforts reduce hazardous fuels, lower wildfire risks, and improve wildlife habitat.
