Okanogan County residents should be aware of active wildfires in the region, including the Modrite Fire in Washington. The Modrite Fire, reported on July 18, 2026, is burning near Wilmont Creek Road from the Kewa Road intersection at Silver Creek to Rogers Bar south of Inchelium. Residents in this area were ordered to evacuate immediately.
Three other fires are active in Oregon: the Salmon Fire, Powder River Fire, and Rowe Creek Complex. The Fox Fire, reported on July 23, 2026, is being managed by the Southwest Area Incident Management Team 3 alongside the Powder River Fire. The Bureau of Land Management has issued a temporary restriction order for the Vale District in Oregon.
The Modrite Fire remains the only fire impacting Washington residents, with immediate evacuation orders in place. Oregon fires are being monitored but have not yet prompted evacuations in Washington.
