The Dutch Flat Fire, reported in Nevada's Winnemucca District, has grown rapidly due to thunderstorms with gusty, erratic winds.
The fire, which began on private land before spreading to Bureau of Land Management lands, is burning in the remote Hot Springs Mountain Range.
Officials note the fire's location is in Nevada, not Okanogan County, Washington, with no indication of immediate threat to local communities or infrastructure in the Okanogan–Omak area.
