The Sinlahekin Fire, located 12 miles west of Tonasket, Washington, is active under the Northeast Region-Department of Natural Resources. The Little Giant Fire, started by lightning on July 15, burns 30 miles northwest of Leavenworth in the Chiwawa River drainage.
Three other fires are active in Idaho and Oregon: the Cascade Fire 22 miles east of Lowell, Idaho; the Akawa Butte Fire 13 miles northeast of Sisters, Oregon; and the Moose Mountain Fire, which started by lightning and burns 4 miles north of Kelly Forks Campground in Idaho. All incidents are being monitored by state and federal agencies.
