The Moose Fire, a lightning-caused wildfire detected July 26, 24 miles southwest of Philipsburg, Montana, has transferred command to a local Type 3 Organization from the Pintler Ranger District of the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest as of Sept. 8, 2026, at 7:00 pm.
Firefighters remain actively engaged across the incident, working to reduce risk and protect public safety. The fire is burning in timber and areas of heavy dead and downed fuels with changing weather conditions influencing fire behavior throughout the incident.
