The Moonshine Fire, burning in Albany County, Wyoming, approximately 17 miles southwest of Wheatland, has prompted a power outage for Wheatland Rural Electric Association customers. A Wyoming Type 3 Incident Management Team has arrived to coordinate firefighting efforts.
Firefighting crews and aircraft are being deployed to assist with the response. The fire is currently burning in difficult-to-access timber in the Laramie Range. Residents in Wheatland should expect continued power outages until further notice for firefighter safety.
