The Luna Fire within North Cascades National Park, discovered on July 2 following lightning, transitioned to a local Type-3 incident command on August 22. The fire remains in steep, remote terrain southwest of Luna Camp along Big Beaver Trail.
Closures for areas, trails, and camps are active to protect the public. Residents should consult the North Cascades National Park website for a full list of fire closures. The fire is approximately 12 miles southwest of the Border 2 Fire, also burning within the park.
