The Little Giant Fire, ignited by lightning on July 15, remains at 5 acres as of August 25, according to the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Firefighters initially deployed but disengaged on July 18 due to challenging terrain and weather conditions.
The fire is located 30 miles northwest of Leavenworth in the Chiwawa River drainage on the Wenatchee River Ranger District. Chelan County Emergency Management advises residents to monitor their Facebook page and website for updates on alerts and evacuations.
