The Kinky Creek Fire, a lightning-caused wildfire in the Gros Ventre Wilderness on Bridger-Teton National Forest, is burning in heavy timber and steep terrain west of Darwin Ranch near upper Gros Ventre Falls.
Fire managers are using both direct extinguishment—engaging the active flame front—and indirect confinement strategies to contain the fire. A trail closure order has been issued by the forest.
The fire danger rating for the Teton Interagency Dispatch area, which includes Bridger-Teton National Forest, Grand Teton National Park, and the National Elk Refuge, is currently "high."
