Okanogan–Omak area drivers will face multiple highway closures and lane reductions beginning late August through early September for infrastructure projects, according to Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) public records.
I-405 will see southbound lane closures from milepost 12 to Coal Creek Parkway Southeast from 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, to 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4. Northbound I-405 will close up to three lanes from Northeast 85th Street on-ramp to Northeast 100th Street from 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31. State Route 20 will alternate traffic with flaggers from Swin Slough Bridge to Laconner Whitney Road/Bay View Road daily except weekends through further notice.
WSDOT advises drivers to expect delays and follow detour signs. The closures are part of ongoing infrastructure work including fish passage construction near I-5 and utility work in Anacortes.
