The High Lava Fire, located approximately 10 miles northwest of Stabler, Washington, is actively burning on Gifford Pinchot National Forest land. Firefighters are using hand crews, engines, and heavy equipment to suppress the fire under a full suppression strategy.
The fire is in extremely challenging terrain with near-vertical slopes and cliff bands, making access difficult. Smoke may be visible near Stabler and surrounding communities, according to the incident report.
