The Coleman Creek Fire, ignited by lightning on July 22, has expanded to near Highway 20 in eastern Oregon, according to InciWeb records updated August 24, 2026.
The fire, burning in grass, brush, and juniper, has moved north and east with steady winds, affecting areas including the small community of Juntura and approaching Warm Springs Reservoir. It spans both Harney and Malheur counties, managed by the Bureau of Land Management's Burns and Vale Districts.
The fire began July 25 after lightning strikes on July 22, with growth observed in the first 48 hours toward Riverside and around Warm Springs Reservoir.
