The Border 2 Fire, a lightning-caused wildfire discovered within North Cascades National Park Service Complex along the U. S./Canada border east of Ross Lake, combined with the Border 1 Fire on July 21, 2026, forming a single fire complex.
The fire is being managed under a full-suppression strategy due to its location in steep, rocky, and remote terrain. Light thunderstorms on July 17 led to the discovery of both fires, which have since grown due to elevated fire weather conditions.
