The Babylon Fire, ignited on June 26, 2026, approximately 25 miles southwest of Monticello, Utah, continues to grow due to low humidity, dry vegetation, and gusty winds.
Over 1,000 personnel are actively working to contain the blaze using direct suppression and indirect confinement strategies. The fire has prompted extensive closures across the Monticello Ranger District of Manti-La Sal National Forest and Canyonlands National Park.
All Forest Service lands, roads, and trails within the Monticello Ranger District are strictly closed, alongside the entire Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. Additionally, BLM lands west of Harts Draw Road to Indian Creek Falls are closed, encompassing Shay Mesa, Beef Basin, Dark Canyon, and Sweet Alice.
